Published to support the touring exhibition of the same name, this stunning publication celebrates the work of young Canadian artist David R. Harper – his first monograph. Speaking to the intersections of personal and universal mythologies, liminality and identity, Harper engages the viewer in a dialogue on the metaphoric weight that objects present both historically and emotionally.

Designer Lauren Wickware was informed by vintage science texts and the artist’s ongoing interest in gradients, creating a hardcover publication that lives in a laser-cut, night-sky-blue slipcase. The suggestion of the constellations, and the wonder they behold, continues inside the book as the reader explores the work of the artist through more than forty full-colour illustrations. An introduction by Ann MacDonald, essays by Robin Metcalfe, Crystal Mowry, and Lisa Stone and Jim Zanzi, and a text by Jan Peacock, further contextualize and complement the work.

David R. Harper: Entre le chien et le loup is distributed by ABC Art Books Canada and can be purchased from ABC, book retailers, and co-publishing galleries.
