Feast for the Senses 10 | Thursday 14 November
Join us for a night of tapas-style food and drink pairings inspired by the art of Adad Hannah as seen in our upcoming exhibition, Glints and Reflections. Guests at Feast for the Senses are treated to a Gallery tour with our curator and guest chef before enjoying a decadent tasting menu of innovative dishes with inspired drink pairing created in conversation with artworks selected by our chef.
Feast for the Senses 10 will feature Chef Dan McCowan, owner and executive chef of Red House, a new bistro restaurant in Uptown Waterloo with a focus on supporting local producers. Our sommelier for the evening will be Ainsley Szvitak, beverage manager at Red House and a contributing writer to Grand Magazine with a well-deserved reputation for creative and unique cocktails.
Chef McCowan was born in Scarborough but grew up here in Kitchener-Waterloo. He graduated from the Chef Apprentice program at George Brown College in the summer of 2003, and quickly after that received his Red Seal Certification. It was while working as a saucier at Oliver & Bonicini's Jump in Toronto where he decided he'd always be a chef.
Upon returning to Kitchener-Waterloo, McCowan spent his days with The Charcoal Group of restaurants where he was given the opportunity to run several different kitchens for the local company, including his first head chef position at Del Dente at the age of 23, being selected as the opening chef de cuisine for Uptown Waterloo's Bauer Kitchen by 26, and Executive Chef for the flagship Charcoal Steakhouse and Martini's restaurants by age 29. Today, he is welcoming diners to his first independent restaurant venture red house in Uptown Waterloo, to experience his fresh, original cuisine, and genuine hospitality.
Please note that Feast for the Senses is a 19+ event.
