Family Sunday | July 2021
Enjoy KWAG Family Sunday all month long with your loved ones at home! Our art activities are now being offered virtually to support the safety and well-being of our community. A new collection of art-making demonstrations and reading recommendations, to view and download, will be launched at the beginning of every month.
July 2021: Welcome to a wave in other words
July Family Sunday is your first chance to engage with KWAG’s latest exhibition, a wave in other words. This month’s activities take inspiration from the artists represented in this exhibition, encouraging you to think about the world differently and how life has changed in the last year.
Check in throughout the month for a series of instructional videos inspired by works in a wave in other words.
Learn how to make fun botanical prints using a styrofoam plate in our first art activity inspired by artists C.V. Stübbe-teglbjaerg and Arnold Shives.
Next, we look to the sculptures of An Te Liu as inspiration for making our own abstract sculptures using styrofoam and cardboard packaging materials.
In our final video for July, we introduce you to photographer Lynne Cohen and show you how to create a realistic drawing of an interior space like those seen in her photographs. This video will be available for viewing from Sunday 1 August.
We'd love to show off your photos on our social media! Use the hashtags #KWAGFamilySunday and tag us in your posts to share what you've created!
