Adad Hannah uses photography, video, installation and performance to generate the still image. His videos are presented in a fixed manner and from a frontal perspective, with skillfully constructed and orchestrated scenes in which participants take part in various activities staged by the artist. Often developing his projects over numerous months or years, doing intensive research and working with large groups of participants through community workshops, Hannah’s staged images draw on references ranging from celebrated historical paintings and sculptures to everyday lives. This exhibition catalogue features key works that define the narrative of Hannah’s artistic practice. In these varied bodies of work Hannah explores seriality, repetition, recovery, duplication, reflection, the copy and visual citation.

Adad Hannah’s works have been exhibited at the National Gallery of Canada, Vancouver Art Gallery, Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, Zendai MoMA (Shanghai), Ikon Gallery (UK), and the 4th Seoul International Media Art Biennial. His works are found in numerous public and private collections, notably, The National Gallery of Canada, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, BMO Financial Group and the Royal Bank of Canada. Born in New York in 1971, Adad Hannah studied in Montreal, and now lives and works in Vancouver.
