Create & Connect

This community driven program is facilitated by a dedicated team of volunteers aged 55 and up who use their passion for art to build connections, foster conversation, and support wellness. 

Through a series of workshops our volunteers encourage creative aging and offer hands-on learning experiences for the 55+ community. Inspired by KWAG's ongoing exhibitions, these workshops are designed to accommodate all skill levels so join us as a beginner, or as someone with years of experience. Past workshops have explored collage, assemblage, printmaking, weaving, and watercolour.

Create & Connect will be offered in-person at local community centres, adult living centres, libraries and long-term care homes throughout Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge, or virtually from the comfort of home over Zoom. 

Past workshops have explored materials and techniques in watercolour, Gelli-Plate printmaking, decoupage, journal binding, and chigiri-e (torn paper) inspired art.

“This program is so wonderful. It gives back to the people in the community. It also gives back to me as a volunteer. There is something great about being in a room with people who are creating and connecting.
