Queer and trans youth are invited for a free, casual drop-in creative space on the fourth Friday of every month! This initiative is led by queer and trans facilitators, offering a brave space for teens to connect with their queer peers over creative interests and refreshments. Bring your own project or use our supplies to create artworks of your own!
Meet the facilitators:
Ike Karuna (they/them) is a lifelong artist and arts educator, who has been teaching children, youth, and adults for 20+ years. Their mixed-media practice centres on storytelling, and across conceptual, formal, and material explorations - from poetry and collage to printmaking and installation - you'll find repeating symbols, metaphors, and images.
Jude Akrey (they/them) is a trans and Autistic artist whose work is dedicated to the ongoing exploration and perpetual re-definition of these lived experiences. Working primarily in painting, printmaking, and community-engaged methodologies, they create spaces of relational care and curiosity. They are committed to investigating the power of empowered communities through shared learning and artmaking.
