Black and Gold is the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery’s biggest fundraising event of the year, contributing $50,000 a year to exhibitions, education and public programming.

Meet your Master of Ceremonies
Allan Bush, First Vice-President and Investment Advisor with CIBC Wood Gundy in Waterloo puts community at the forefront of everything he does. He hosts the daily radio show, The Wood Gundy Money Minute with Allan Bush, at 8:05am on 98.5FM and is involved in many local charities including The Food Bank of Waterloo Region, Pinball Clemons Foundation and Mary’s Place, to name a few. He has also played an instrumental role in the development of girls basketball in the KW region through involvement with the TriCounty Thunder and KW Lightning for over 17 years. Also returning to Black & Gold for 2018 is the Ernie Kalwa Jazz Quartet, which will provide the perfect soundtrack for our cocktail hour. The leader and founder of the Royal City Saxophone Quartet, Ernie Halwa is a graduate of the University of Waterloo in Mathematics and Music. A native of Peterborough, Ernie now calls Elora home. He played his first professional gig at age 14, and has been active in dance bands, concert bands, Dixieland, R&B, and saxophone quartets ever since. He studied saxophone at Humber College with Pat LaBarbera, and later in North Carolina with James Houlik, and has played in numerous bands and traveled to many jazz events and festivals throughout the United States and Canada. His many influences include Zoot Sims, Stan Getz, Sonny Stitt, and Hank Mobley.
