Enjoy KWAG Family Sunday all month long with your loved ones at home! Our art activities are now being offered virtually to support the safety and well-being of our community. A new collection of art-making demonstrations and reading recommendations, to view and download, will be launched at the beginning of every month. 

June 2021: Growing Together

Did you know that KWAG has a Butterfly Garden? June Family Sunday encourages you to come explore the outdoor offerings at KWAG! This month’s activities are inspired by Planting one Another, a twin re-planting of a Medicine and Butterfly garden by the late Mi’kmaq artist Mike MacDonald (1941-2006). This garden, along with others planted across the country, provides space for contemplation and invites slow looking and interaction with medicine plants. 

Check in throughout the month for activities that will inspire you to get out, smell the flowers and think about your connection with plants. 

Download and print our Garden Guide! Bring this guide with you to explore the gardens at KWAG. It includes a series of prompts to encourage close looking and creative connections!  We encourage you to visit Planting one Another multiple times throughout the month to see how it changes and grows!

Check out our latest video, which will guide you through a step-by-step process to make your very own garden bee home! Mike MacDonald’s garden is a retreat for bees, butterflies and other insects that play an important role in the environment as pollinators that sustain healthy ecosystems. Build your own bee home to help create even more spaces for this species to thrive!
