The Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery connects people and ideas through art. Its nationally-acclaimed exhibitions and programs welcome all to be inspired and challenged through a deepened understanding of ourselves, our cultures, and our communities.

The Gallery is seeking contract Art Instructors to join our team and deliver studio-based and exhibition-related programming during summer camp 2025 and throughout the year. Art Instructors are responsible for assisting with program planning and delivering hands-on workshops and courses.

The Art Instructor position is ideal for working professional artists or art educators who are interested in engaging with the Gallery and contributing their talent to the community. KWAG SCHOOL and EDUCATION PROGRAMS

School Programs at the gallery offer unique opportunities for students to connect to the world of art and ideas as well as to learn directly from original works of art and the artistic process of living and historical artists. Designed to relate to current exhibitions as well as support the visual arts curriculum, KWAG School Programs emphasize an interactive approach to learning about art and are delivered both at the Gallery and offsite in the classroom. Programs offsite are usually 1 hour in length per classroom, programs at the gallery are 2 hours and include a one-hour tour and one-hour studio workshop. KWAG School Programs are delivered regularly throughout the year. Our peak time is during the annual Expressions exhibition of student art (typically in late winter/spring). Education programs may also be delivered to non-school based organizations, such as Girl Guides of Canada, etc.

FAMILY PROGRAMS

Family Sundays occur on one Sunday each month and other specialized Family Workshops occasionally occur on Saturdays throughout the year. Hands-on art workshops are components of both days’ programming. Art Instructors play an integral role in this area of programming.
