Summer Programs Facilitator (2 Positions)
Term position: June 30 to August 22, 2025 (Monday to Friday)

The Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery connects people and ideas through art. Its nationally-acclaimed exhibitions and programs welcome all to be inspired and challenged through a deepened understanding of ourselves, our cultures, and our communities.
With the support of Young Canada Works, the Gallery is seeking two Summer Programs Facilitators to join our team of creative individuals leading the Gallery’s Summer Art Camps. This is an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a cultural institution. The responsibilities of the Summer Camp Facilitator include researching, designing, implementing, and evaluating Summer Art programs for children and youth aged 6 to 13. Additionally, the Facilitator will help to create an inclusive and encouraging environment where campers can learn and experiment with various art-making materials and practices.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
You may be our ideal candidate if you meet the following criteria:
- You are currently enrolled in a college or university program in areas such as art history, studio arts, cultural/museum studies, cultural management, education, or a related field.
- You are a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada. (Please note that non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible.)
- You are legally entitled to work in Canada.
- You are between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
- You are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment.
- You will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) during the Young Canada Works (YCW) work assignment.
- You were a full-time high school, college, CEGEP, or university student (as defined by your educational institution) in the semester preceding the YCW work assignment.
– You intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following YCW work.
- You have previous experience in the arts and culture sector and/or working with children and youth.
- You can demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- You are highly organized.
- You are outgoing, energetic, and eager to lead a variety of camp activities and games.
- You are proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- You are able to provide a clear Criminal Reference Check (a vulnerable sector check).
- You possess basic First Aid and CPR certification (an asset).
Location and requirements:
This is a fully on-site position, with all hours worked at the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery, typically between Monday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Hours and rate of pay:
This term position is 35 hours (5 days) per week at a pay rate of $17.20 per hour, with 4% vacation pay.
