Meet the Artist:
Camila Salcedo (she/they) is a Venezuelan-born interdisciplinary artist currently based in Tkaronto, specializing in textiles, drag, and community arts. Their work is interdisciplinary in nature, but their focus remains consistently on community engagement and sustainable textile practices. They have a decade of experience teaching textiles and professional development practices primarily to emerging artists, queer youth, and BIPOC seniors. Most recently, in the last 4 years, they have taught drag makeup and costuming to queer youth across Ontario. Their drag persona, Camilo el Salsero, is a suave and romantic salsa singer from the 80’s who captivates audiences with their classic Salsa Baúl renditions and flashy looks.
