Choose from four hourly drop-in tours presented in honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Honour the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by joining us for a guided tour of Planting one Another, KWAG’s re-planting of a Medicine and Butterfly garden by late Mi’kmaq artist Mike MacDonald (1941-2006).

Close-up view of goldenrod and purple asters growing densely at the base of two angled tipi polesCurated by Lisa Myers and produced in partnership with the Woodland Cultural Centre, Planting one Another makes space for contemplation and invites slow looking and interaction with medicine plants. Inspired by his encounters with butterflies while documenting the threat of clear-cut logging in Kitwanga BC, Mike MacDonald would go on to create numerous site-specific butterfly gardens across the country between 1995 and 2003, from the Presentation House, North Vancouver to Mount Saint Vincent Gallery in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Thirty-minute guided tours of Planting One Another will be offered every hour at 11am, 12pm, 1pm and 2pm. Please meet our tour guide at the garden, located on the Queen Street side of Centre In The Square.
