Expressions 44: Creative Communities
-Expressions 44 is our annual exhibition of student artwork that celebrates the next generation of creativity in Waterloo Region. Artworks made by students in Junior Kindergarten through to Grade 12 are shown alongside works from the Gallery’s Permanent Collection, highlighting the way art expresses ideas of past, present and future.

geetha thurairajah: Migration is more momentous than ancient invasions
-For Waterloo-born, Brooklyn based artist geetha thurairajah, form is a slippery precursor to meaning. Her paintings begin as digital renderings, often composed of a surreal mix of symbols and visual quotations.

Final Girl: Selected Works from the Permanent Collection
-In horror and thriller cinematic culture there is a trope known as “final girl.” This term describes the common use of a female character who endures havoc to end up the lone survivor at the end of a film. This selection of works explores endurance as a strength that surfaces in images of or by women that can be found in the Gallery’s Permanent Collection.
