Miniature Portrait Painting Workshop | Saturday 15 September
Join 2018 City of Kitchener Artist in Residence Sumaira Tazeen for a day long workshop that explores traditional South Asian Miniature portrait painting. Prior to the advent of printing and photography, prominent members of the 16th century royal courts had their portraits painted on various surfaces. This workshop will introduce participants to tools, mediums and surfaces used during this time. Under Sumaira's guidance, participants will use a fine tip squirrel hair brush to apply washes of black and white ink on a specialized archival board called Vasli as they create their own traditional style portrait (Chehra Nami). Some experience drawing would be beneficial but is not required. All materials provided.
