This project took inspiration from the Rework/ Revisit concept as we reworked found materials into our piece. We reworked materials like bubble wrap and tissue paper, turning them into a representation of a turtle shell. Revisiting was a large part of our project as well. We revisited different ideas when brainstorming our project, almost ruling out the idea that ended up being the one we chose. In revisiting the idea of stuffing bubble wrap with tissue paper, we gained inspiration for the rest of our project. Our piece used materials such as plastic bottles and bubble wrap as a statement about the amount of plastic polluting our oceans. By reworking these materials, we are able to transform these items that could have otherwise ended up as pollution into something beautiful. I feel it is especially fitting that we chose to create a turtle when talking about environmental activism as we are all citizens of Turtle Island.
