Family Sunday | Fall 2020

Sunday 1 November - Remembrance Day

Inspired by the stories of military duty seen in Black Drones in the Hive, we will present an afternoon of Rememberance Day art and learning in partnership with the Kitchener Public Library.

Following the theme of remembrance, this virtual Family Sunday is inspired by Deanna Bowen’s examination of her own family history. Participants can download activity sheets to prompt reflection on their personal histories with a guide for intergenerational interviews.

Black Drones in the Hive features archival materials documenting the military history of Black soldiers in Waterloo Region. Create your own poppy artwork with a video demo inspired by Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae’s poem In Flanders Fields.
